A Harm Reduction Summer Day Party

and Red, White & Blue Harm Reduction & You Barbecue

July 4, 2025 and July 27, 2025

Project Briggs, Inc., in conjunction with Kraig X Craig and The Butler's Kitchen, has effectively conducted two impactful harm reduction community outreach activities: "Red, White & Blue Harm Reduction & You Barbecue," hosted by Board Member Kraig Williams, and "A Harm Reduction Summer Day Party," hosted by Board Member Jhahbriel C. Moore-Butler, PhD. These events led to the distribution of over 72 Naloxone Nasal Spray kits.

We appreciate everyone who joined us to celebrate, support, and promote awareness.

As opioid-related deaths continue to surge across the nation, the DMV and Greater Baltimore area have also faced a significant rise in fatal opioid overdoses. National trends show that new opioid users are mainly White (non-Hispanic) younger adults who often begin their addiction by trying prescription drugs, which can escalate to heroin use.

From 2016 to 2019, the DMV had the highest incidence of opioid-related fatal overdoses. In 2020, 94% of fatal opioid overdoses involved fentanyl or a fentanyl analog, a stark increase from 22% in the first quarter of 2015.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to our partners: HealthHIV, DC Engage, Project Briggs, Inc., The Butler's Kitchen, and Kraig X Craig for their commitment to Risk Reduction and community care, which made this event a success.

While it is important to have fun and relax, we must also remember to prioritize safety, remain aware, and support one another. This is the foundation of harm reduction. Together, we are creating something beautiful — and we are just beginning. Stay tuned for more events that will bring joy, connection, and purpose to our community.

As opioid-related fatalities continue to escalate nationwide, the DMV and Greater Baltimore area have also witnessed a concerning rise in fatal opioid overdoses. National patterns predominantly indicate that new opioid users are typically White (non-Hispanic) younger adults who initiate their addiction through the experimentation of prescription medications, potentially leading to heroin use.

Nevertheless, from 2016 to 2019, the DMV experienced the highest rates of opioid-related fatal overdoses. In 2020, 94% of fatal opioid overdoses involved fentanyl or a fentanyl analog, a significant increase compared to 22% of cases in the first quarter of 2015.

We express our heartfelt appreciation to our partners: HealthHIV, DC Engage, Blaq Equity of Baltimore, and SAG Events for their unwavering commitment to harm reduction, which enhances our community outreach and enables the success of these events.

As the number of opioid-related deaths continues to rise across the country, the DMV and Greater Baltimore area have also seen a troubling increase in fatal opioid overdoses. National trends indicate that new opioid users are predominantly White (non-Hispanic) younger adults who often start their addiction by trying prescription drugs, which can lead to heroin use.

Between 2016 and 2019, the DMV reported the highest rates of opioid-related fatal overdoses. In 2020, 94% of fatal opioid overdoses involved fentanyl or a fentanyl analog, a stark increase from 22% of cases in the first quarter of 2015.

We extend our immense gratitude to our partners: HealthHIV, DC Engage, Sincerely Productions, DJ Mike, and Thurst Lounge for their dedication to harm reduction, which fortifies our community outreach and makes these events feasible.

Cans & Cocktails - An Evening of Giving

Hosted by Lutfy

November 13, 2025 and November 16, 2025

Cans & Cocktails - An Evening of Giving Organized by: Sincerely Productions, The Baltimore Eagle, Thurst Lounge, Project Briggs, Inc. and SAG Events

Project Briggs, Inc., in collaboration with Sincerely Productions and SAG Events, united to facilitate impactful community outreach activities that concluded the month of November with Cans & Cocktails, aimed at providing support to Federal Employees during their critical time of need amidst the Federal Government shutdown.

OUR PURPOSE

As we transitioned into the holiday season, a time for gratitude, joy, and family connections, it was vital to recognize that many in our community were facing challenges, particularly during this time. While were relieved that the Government Shutdown ended, we encouraged donations to help replenish local food banks for future or potential food insecurities.

No one should navigated the holidays with fear, hunger, or the sensation of being abandoned or forgotten. Our Board of Directors and the wider community rose to the occasion with compassion, uplifting one another, and ensured  their neighbors know they were not alone.
